Sailing Intermission

Sailing Intermission

Featuring the sailboat Isabella, a Super Mikado 56 made by the French shipyard CNSO. Sailing, partying, dancing, cooking, and sometimes pushing the limits. This sailboat had been neglected for some time when she was purchased. Lots of cleaning, sanding, refinishing, new lines, refrigerator, pumps, water heater parts, whole boat water filters, bow thruster, lighting, fuel filters, instruments, air conditioning, etc….

Some of the fun with refitting a sailboat is to be able to do economical but quality improvements. Elbow grease saves a lot of money, watching for sales, knowing when substitutions can be made that will last, and of course enjoying the final product.

We sail, fish (haha), dance, fly the drone, sometimes wear bikinis, DIY, ride the motorcycle, listen to great music, and enjoy life. Older sailors don’t have a clew when to quit; they just keep lubing their winches.

Cleaning the bilge on a sailboat Ep 2
Cleaning the bilge on a sailboat Ep 2
My least favorite thing to do! Clean the bilge. It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it. We currently have two bilge pumps, a Rule 2000 and a Seaward 750. The 750 is placed lower so it comes on first. The float switch on the 2000 is placed higher so it...
