Adaptation and perseverance are key aspects when living life on a boat, and that is especially true during an unexpected sailing injury. This was the situation for Josh as he injured both his shoulders while getting their dinghy ready to head towards Guadalupe from Dominica.

Josh’s Injury

As Tamara and Josh prepare the boat for sailing, Josh experiences an unfortunate accident when he slips while trying to pull out the dinghy’s plug. The impact of the fall causes him to dislocate both arms, leaving them in significant pain. With Tamara’s help, they attempt to relocate his shoulders, and despite being terrified at how quickly the injury occurred, Josh manages to get his arm back into place.

Adapting on Board

Living life with just one good arm proves challenging for Josh, as even simple tasks become difficult. However, thanks to Tamara’s support and knowledge of human anatomy, she helps him adapt by identifying which muscles are still functional and finding ways around his limitations.

Navigating towards a New Island

Despite the injury, Tamara and Josh push forward with their sailing plans and head for Guadeloupe. In just three days, they plan to visit three countries, adding some urgency to their voyage. This adventure continues as they make it to Guadeloupe with no issues and enjoy some well-deserved time relaxing on the beach while the shoulders slowly start healing.

New Challenges in Antigua

Once they are healed enough, Josh and Tamara set sail for their next destination – Antigua. Upon arrival at this new island, they are amazed by its crystal-blue waters and 365 picturesque beaches, making the trip even more worthwhile.

Conclusion

Through all their hardships, Tamara and Josh’s unwavering determination and teamwork help them overcome every challenge that comes their way. Their latest sailing injury may have tested their limits, but they proved yet again how resilient they are when it comes to navigating life on the sea.

Diving into the Culture of the Azores

We have been couped up on this ocean for 14 days now and it’s time to blow off some steam. But maybe we went a bit overboard by jumping into a local cultural event of running with the bulls. 😲🐂 To be honest we didn’t even know the Azores existed until we began this journey. They are a group of 9 is...
