Gale Force 10: Our SCARIEST storm yet at anchor RAW & UNCUT (Sailing Honu Time S4E12)

When we first started this adventure, we had a grocery list things that worried or terrified us about what we would encounter on Honu. But as with all things you overcome your fears and that helps you to grow and become stronger at what you are doing. However, there is one thing that rules them all, it controls everything we do on our floating home, from how we are going to travel for the day down to the comfort level of just living.

*That’s the wind.*

No matter how much we study it and prepare for the day ahead or the storms that are approaching it can always change, for better…or worse. The wind is a live being that can control the ocean and space above in two completely different ways, at the same time. It directs the clouds above and the land below. It is so powerful that it can destroy a town in a matter of minutes. It is a force to be reckoned with. So, when heard that we were about to experience 50 knot winds on our home that is tethered to the ground only by a chain and hook, surrounded but a number of other homes in the same situation all closely packed together.
You can 100% believe we were terrified to ride out our scariest storm yet.

The day has finally come 😢 #endofanera #thischangeseverything #nextchapter #newbeginnings

We knew would be hard, but didn’t realize just how hard until now. They say the two happiest days in a boat owner’s life are the day they buy and the day they sell. Honestly, we think that’s a load of crap. For over three incredible years, Honu wasn’t just our boat—he was our home, our protector, ou...

Entering the DANGER ZONE

We are sailing through one of the most dangerous areas in the Atlantic Ocean. Orcas have been terrorizing sail boats near the Strait of Gibraltar since 2020. Nearly 700 incidents and at least 5 boats sank. This has played heavily on all our brains since we embarked on this adventure. No one knows wh...

Diving into the Culture of the Azores

We have been couped up on this ocean for 14 days now and it’s time to blow off some steam. But maybe we went a bit overboard by jumping into a local cultural event of running with the bulls. 😲🐂 To be honest we didn’t even know the Azores existed until we began this journey. They are a group of 9 is...
