Everything is about to change : We left Honu!

The Sailing Honu Time crew has embarked on an exciting adventure as part of the West-East Atlantic Rally organized by the World Cruising Club. This incredible journey spans from St Martin to Portugal, offering breathtaking landscapes and thrilling challenges.

St Martin Departure and Boat Preparation

After the stress of getting their boat ready for a two-month storage period, Sailing Honu Time successfully makes it to St Martin. Their home, the beautiful 54′ Islander sailboat, named Starbari, is in prime shape as they prepare to cross the Atlantic with a crew of five.

Excitement and Nerves

The team shares their excitement, nerves, and anticipation as they gear up for the journey ahead. Despite the short-term nature of the departure to Bermuda, Starbari will undergo two lengthy passages equivalent in distance to nearly double the previous largest one completed by Sailing Honu Time.

Atlantic Crossing and the Azores

A challenging 7-8 day voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, beginning in St Martin and stopping over in Bermuda, is followed by another exhilarating journey to the breathtaking Azores islands. These remote island locations make for an unforgettable adventure.

Conclusion

The Sailing Honu Time crew will share updates, photos, and videos through their Patreon page. The rally, with over 36 boats participating, promises a social cruising experience filled with camaraderie as they follow the World Cruising Club motto – ‘Have a great time asure and AF flat.’ The adventure culminates in Southern Portugal after approximately two months at sea.
