⚡ A LITTLE TOO MUCH POWER! 🌪 | Hunter Sailboat Refit

A LITTLE TOO MUCH POWER!

At what point is it too much or not enough? 🤔

We hit some major ups and downs this week. The energy and adrenaline were all over the map and Mother Nature sure gave us a glimpse of what can happen out there.

Honu got a substantial energy boost to the tune of 2 – 8D AGM batteries. That’s 620 Amp Hours of ⚡pure unadulterated POWER!!⚡ (insert Tim the Tool man Taylor howling…sorry showing our age)

This is a huge upgrade to where we were for battery power before. We can now keep all of our systems running smoothly and electronics charged.

But as always you can never choose one project and complete it start to finish. Not in boat life baby. You start one thing and then 5 more show up wanting attention to. It’s like trying to pet only one puppy when you are picking from a littler…never going to happen 😣

That being said it wasn’t all about the projects. Mother Nature decided she wasn’t getting enough of the spotlight and thought it was her turn to have a go. We go hit with and emergency alarm that was never on our radar and at night time no less.

🚨 Emergency alert: Extreme…TORNADO WARNING!! 🌪

Now we have never experienced something like this before in our lives. We have seen many storms, water, snow, and wind. But never a Tornado, and on a boat to boot!

This experience humbled us in many ways. We are by no means naïve about what we are getting ourselves into out on the ocean. However, it did give us a swift kick in the can. We realized that we were not prepared and ready for any situation at any time.

Copy That!

The day has finally come 😢 #endofanera #thischangeseverything #nextchapter #newbeginnings

We knew would be hard, but didn’t realize just how hard until now. They say the two happiest days in a boat owner’s life are the day they buy and the day they sell. Honestly, we think that’s a load of crap. For over three incredible years, Honu wasn’t just our boat—he was our home, our protector, ou...

We are sailing through one of the most dangerous areas in the Atlantic Ocean. Orcas have been terrorizing sail boats near the Strait of Gibraltar since 2020. Diving into the Culture of the Azores

We have been couped up on this ocean for 14 days now and it’s time to blow off some steam. But maybe we went a bit overboard by jumping into a local cultural event of running with the bulls. 😲🐂 To be honest we didn’t even know the Azores existed until we began this journey. They are a group of 9 is...
