In this episode, we finally replace our Spade anchor with a brand-new setup, visiting the excellent chandleries in Canet-en-Roussillon to get Helios ready for the next stage of our journey.
Being back in Canet is surprisingly emotional. This is where we first laid eyes on Helios and where our sailing adventure began. Three years later, after more than 6,000 nautical miles sailing around the Mediterranean, it’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and the incredible friends we’ve made along the way.
Along with the new anchor, we also picked up a Grippy Anchor Buoy to improve visibility when we’re at anchor — something we’ve been meaning to do for a long time.
With bad weather forecast, we decided to wait one more day before heading south into Spain. When the window opens, we enjoy a beautiful sail to Roses, where we finally put our new anchor and buoy to the test.
A practical upgrade, a bit of nostalgia, and another memorable sail aboard Helios.
