After spending over 6 weeks in the Galapagos Islands, Gargoyle weighs anchor in Wreck Bay and he’s East to Panama. The 800NM voyage lays out as almost as a beeline from west to east as we sail into the sunrise and watch the sunset out the stern. As a bonus we get to enjoy sailing under a full moon and the moonrise of the blue moon is spectacular. The initial forecast was for great winds and seas for the entire trip though the Pacific Equatorial current right on the bow adds a day to this beautiful sail. Then just as we are relaxing and turning into the Gulf of Panama, an unexpected blow from Hurricane Eta on the Caribbean gave Gargoyle a hard push into Vista Mar marina with winds to 45knots and seas of 2m – 3m. What a great passage it was with a bit of everything. Dolphins, helicopters, hurricanes and a sunrise offering to Neptune as once again, Sailing Gargoyle crosses the equator.
