The Indian Ocean is big. It’s daunting. It can throw wicked storms at you out of nowhere. But in order to sail around the world, we had to sail cross it.
The first step in that journey was sailing from Phuket, Thailand over to Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. Amazingly enough, at just over 1,000nm this would end up being our longest passage across the entire Indian Ocean. And rather than having to worry about those ferocious storms, we were concerned about a lack of wind. Starry Horizons wasn’t phased though and proved to us just how well she could sail in light winds. So well in fact that we arrived a whole day earlier than anticipated! Not bad for a cruising cat!
