Welcome to Out Chasing Stars! We're Admiral Amy and Captain David and we're currently exploring the world on s/v Starry Horizons, our Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 catamaran. We started out (nervously!) watching our boat get launched in La Rochelle, France in October of 2014. Since then we've completed an entire world circumnavigation, sailing over 37,000nm, and documented it all here on YouTube. We started making these videos to show our family and friends what life was like on a sailboat, and we're still amazed that other people have also started following along. After a long awaited return to Starry Horizons in Tonga, we immediately started re-commissioning her and discovered a serious problem. The anodes on our saildrives had completely disappeared and the saildrives had started corroding!
This was something that required immediate fixing and fortunately, the only boat yard in Tonga (conveniently called “The Boat Yard”) had just opened up the previous year and could haul SH. We ended up on the hard for about a week fixing the saildrives and working on various other projects. When we got back in the water, we were ready to go cruise Tonga!
We want to send another HUGE thank you to Kjell and Adriana for letting us stay at Mystic Sands (http://www.mysticsands.net/) while SH was on the hard. Life in a boatyard is much better when you’re not living IN the boatyard! Thanks again guys!
