Welcome to Out Chasing Stars! We're Admiral Amy and Captain David and we're currently exploring the world on s/v Starry Horizons, our Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 catamaran. We started out (nervously!) watching our boat get launched in La Rochelle, France in October of 2014. Since then we've completed an entire world circumnavigation, sailing over 37,000nm, and documented it all here on YouTube. We started making these videos to show our family and friends what life was like on a sailboat, and we're still amazed that other people have also started following along. After arriving in New Zealand, we spent a few days working on projects before setting out for Whangarei. We had a bit of time before our scheduled haul out so we elected to make a few stops along the way. The best of which was in Tutukaka harbour where we were entertained by some outrigger racing and even found a hike with a gorgeous view.
Our haul out was scheduled at Norsand Boat Yard and we’d be storing Starry Horizons there for a couple of months. To get there, we had to navigate the Hatea River, which was quite shallow, all while remember that our navigational markers were backwards from those in the States! Fortunately, we made it without any issues and got our girl safely tucked away!
