Sailing in the Rain Around the Mull of Kintyre – Dolphins, Island Adventures & A Bittersweet Farewell to Gigha.
Join us as we leave Bangor and head north, rounding the legendary Mull of Kintyre in steady rain, misty horizons, and truly beautiful sailing conditions. Sometimes the most magical passages aren’t blue skies and sunshine — they’re grey seas, dramatic coastlines, and that feeling of being very small in a very big ocean.
As we approach Isle of Gigha, we’re welcomed in the best possible way — dolphins riding our bow, weaving effortlessly through the swell as if guiding us safely to anchor. Moments like these are why we sail.
Once ashore, we explore Gigha both on foot and by bike, soaking in the wild beauty, white sandy beaches, and peaceful Hebridean charm that makes this island one of our absolute favourite places. To make it even more special, we celebrate our anniversary at the wonderful The Boathouse, enjoying incredible food with views over the anchorage.
But as always with places you love, saying goodbye is never easy. Leaving Gigha feels bittersweet — one of those anchorages that captures your heart and stays with you long after the sails are up.
If you enjoy sailing adventures, real-life liveaboard stories, wildlife encounters, and exploring remote islands, you’ll love this episode.
