In this video, we have a quick tour of La Gomera, meal prep and get ready for our passage to Cape Verde. We had 750nm to sail – and the wind was going to be quite strong. Worst nightmare hits when we lose our autopilot – we quickly realise how tough the passage could be if we were to hand steer the whole time. An intense passage – with strong sea state and wind. Lots of things to fix underway, we try our our round sail and spend most of the passage cooped up down below! We make it to Palmeira in Sal after 5.5 days at sea – a speedy passage averaging 6 knots.
