In this week’s video we are back to working on the stern tube in the owner’s hull. A few weeks before, Matt had made the deadwood (skeg) for the area, and we had been waiting on a specific laser to be able to align the tube itself.

Now we have it in our hands and we’re able to move on to the next part of the project. After aligning the laser in the tube itself, we work with Matt’s engine mount mold to make sure we have it coming through at the correct angle, and the light from the laser is hitting the center line of our front bulkhead.

We prep the tube itself and then slather it with thickened resin, getting it into position for what should be the last time – before the next steps of multiple glassings.

We also feature our last Vancouver segment, where we had made the trip up to Tofino with the guys from BRNKL, as well as Duca and Roberta of Odd Life Crafting. We get settled into our Airbnb, and immediately head across the street to the beach, where the guys are up for surfing, even in the cold and overcast weather.

Our next day there we take off to see the sights, including a nice hike along one of the many beaches in the area, a stop at Tofino Brewing, and then the famous Tacofino truck for lunch.

We end our evening with another round of surfing, where the sun has finally broken free of the clouds and we can enjoy the longest day of light in this area.

We hope you enjoy!
Much love,
Jessica, Matt & Georgie
