Day 11 of our sail from the USA to South America… and today feels like a real turning point.
The last glimpse of land disappears behind us as we head further offshore with nothing but ocean ahead. After barely any wind and carefully watching our fuel levels, we finally start to feel the conditions changing as stronger breeze begins to fill in and we edge closer to the trade winds.
Along the way we dodge huge cargo ships crossing our path, celebrate Tom’s 40th birthday at sea, and get an incredible visit from dolphins riding the bow of Escapade.
This was one of those raw, slower days offshore that really shows what ocean sailing is actually like.
⛵ Follow the journey as we sail from the USA to Colombia aboard our 40ft sailboat, Escapade —
