Hi guys, welcome back! I hope you are all well. Today I’m on my own on the boat waiting for Lee to come back, so while waiting, I thought I’d give you a few updates. First of all, our hot water system is now done but we haven’t tested it yet. We will be doing the tests later on today and hopefully, we’ll have hot water!
Fitting The Calorifier
Number two, we’ve decided to keep our old anchor chain. It’s a bit short for our needs so we bought 10 meters of new chain and are going to weld it together. Our friend Lee is an excellent welder, so he’s going to do this job for us.

So I’m just waiting for Lee. Once he’s back, we’ll get the chain on board and can have it all sorted out.
New Weather Update
The weather today is absolutely incredible. Better than three days ago when we were stuck in the harbor because of bad weather.
Fitting Calorifier To Betamarine 25
Now let’s talk about fitting a calorifier (water heater) to the Betamarine 25 engine. First of all, here is the water inlet coming from your engine and going into the calorifier.
Next up, there’s a return P valve underneath, which allows us to shut it off, drain the system, and change the coolant. This just makes things simpler for us!
Testing The Hot Water System
So now we test our new hot water system! After running the engine for a while, you’ll be able to enjoy warm showers onboard. It’s not super hot but it does get nice and warm.
Fitting New Anchor Chain
Now we move on to attaching our new anchor chain. The Anka rope is first attached and then fed through the rest of the old chain. All will be sorted in no time!
All that’s left now is for us to make sure everything works perfectly! Watch this space for more updates.
