The Hardest Part of Living in Paradise

Living in paradise sounds like a dream… until it’s time to get your boat ready to actually enjoy it! 😂⛵

After spending the summer back in Idaho, our family is finally back in Grenada and ready to kick off Season 2 aboard our Lagoon 450 catamaran, Isla!

But before we can return to the beautiful Caribbean waters, there’s WORK to be done!

Kasey has been tackling some major boat projects, including reinforcing our bulkheads and completing a DIY bottom job. We’re also installing underwater lights, getting Isla ready to splash, and learning (once again!) that boat life isn’t always sunshine and sandy beaches.

And living in a boatyard with three kids? That’s an adventure all on its own! 😂

Once Isla is finally back in the water, we make our way to Le Phare Bleu Marina, where we’re reminded exactly why we chose this lifestyle.

The kids reconnect with their sailing friends, afternoons turn into endless swimming and playing, and those little doubts about taking our children away from their familiar lives start to disappear.

Oh, and did we mention our neighborhood barracuda named Barry? 🐟👀

Welcome to Season 2 of Finding Our Isla!

We’re a family who sold our home, stepped away from our traditional lives in Idaho, and moved aboard a 45-foot sailing catamaran to explore the world together.

We’re learning to sail, homeschooling our kids, exploring incredible destinations, tackling boat projects, and discovering that sometimes the greatest adventures happen when you step outside your comfort zone.

Whether you’re dreaming about sailing away someday or simply love following family adventures, we’re glad you’re here!

Are we making a MISTAKE?

After spending our first season sailing the Caribbean as a family, we returned home to Idaho... and suddenly, going back to boat life didn't feel quite as simple as we thought it would. Being home meant family, friends, mountains, camping, birthdays, Yellowstone, and everything we had left beh...

We Didn’t Know If We’d Ever Sail Again

After our first year of sailing the Caribbean as a family, we sailed our Lagoon 450 south to Grenada to haul her out for hurricane season. “Somebody Forgot to Fill the Gas Up…” 😂

“Somebody forgot to fill the gas up…” 😂 Thank you, Lily, for the status update. We were supposed to take the dinghy into town. Slight problem: no gas. So the boys got to work rowing us to shore so we could find fuel and THEN continue our trip. Nothing turns a simple trip to town into an adventure...
