Sitting High and Dry (but not dry enough) | Expedition Evans 8

We are grinding maniacs in this episode. We grind gel coat, and then grind gel coat some more and in between we talk about how it’s going grinding gel coat.
And it is going well. We are making progress at a GREAT pace and are feeling excited to be uncovering a better concept map for the repairs ahead.
The first two days of grinding we carefully took off most of our gear inside the boat so that we wouldn’t track dust onto the cockpit. We wanted to keep that area clean because it’s where the dogs were hanging out. It didn’t work well enough for how overly protective we are so we ended up finding an awesome dog sitter and sent them to get all the love and cuddles in a non-fiberglass environment. We missed them, but it did make it easier to take cool down breaks and made it possible for us to vent our space a bit better. Plus, the dog sitter had kids and our dogs LOVE kids.
Brett managed to find a full face respirator which was such a great find! Keep in mind this video was back in the days of complete PPE shortages. We were super excited for the full face set up. I figured out that wearing my n95 mask underneath my respirator added the extra layer of protection I needed to keep my lungs gel coat free.

Here’s what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground – hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull.
