this one time my mother-in-law explained why she never went to the beach in Hawaii even though they live so close. She told me the Hawaiian Beaches were "cold and dirty" hahaha. My flabbers were gasted! Because Hawaiian beaches are the best BUT she had previously lived in the Philippines where the sand is white and the water is warm, so the Hawaii beaches, to her, were lackluster.
