Electric motor testing | 28 | Beau and Brandy Sailing
Boat life takes some time getting used to, especially for Oona. So in order to keep her safe and make it easier to move around, we’re putting up netting. We bought some from net world sports via amazon (link below). It’s originally intended for baseballs but we’re re purposing it. We just have to cutout what we need.
We’ve been testing our electric motor in and out of the slip. We’re a little concerned with the temperature it’s getting up to. The vendor we originally bought the kit from made it clear to keep it at 140 F but we’re seeing temps above 170 after 30 minutes of run time. We took a trip to the good’ol junk yard to test out some radiator fans. We also sent an email to Motenergy to get the true requirements for our ME1115.
Let’s face it, our sails have been neglected ever since we bought Saoirse from Chapman School of Seamanship. They’ve been cooped up in bags for way too long. Time to stretch their legs. Well, at least the mainsail. Hope you enjoy!
