After spending a week in incredible Princess Louisa Inlet, we hauled anchor and sailed back towards civilization in order to reprovision. 48 hours and 75nm miles later we were back in the Straight of Georgia, sailing in 20kn winds and surfing down 6-8ft swells when our STEERING FAILED.

Suddenly our boat was seemingly out of our control and at the mercy of the wind. This is the FULL story of what happened..

WHO WE ARE

We are a couple from opposite sides of the world living an adventure-based, alternative lifestyle here in the Pacific Northwest.

Our time is spent split between land & sea – living part time in our tiny home on wheels (a vintage Airstream that we converted completely ourselves) as well as living aboard our tiny home with sails (a Catalina 30 that we’ve been restoring while teaching ourselves how to sail!).

OUR STORY

I (Allison) met James while working on a remote island in the PNW three years ago.

A decade working in healthcare has helped us both to appreciate how finite our time is and created a sense of urgency to LIVE ALL OUT!

We made some bold moves, hit pause on our conventional careers and took action turning our dreams into reality.

The first step was downsizing & minimizing our lives to fit into 160 sq ft. – a vintage Airstream trailer which we converted completely ourselves, in just 60 days, without prior building experience!

Living full time in our tiny home on wheels created the financial freedom we needed to take the next big step, purchasing a SAILBOAT!

A longtime dream of ours and another HUGE project! We’ve been real busy refitting our Catalina 30 while teaching ourselves how to sail. It’s been a pretty STEEP learning curve, but we’re pretty motivated by all the incredible ocean adventures on the horizon.

Subscribe to come along on our journey!

Much love,
A & J
