54yo Airstream upcycled to DREAM Tiny Home in just 60days?!

After days of deconstruction & sanding, we were excited to finally start the process of rebuilding this vintage Airstream trailer! Join us this week as we transform the interior with a fresh coat of white paint & build our first piece of (pseudo) furniture in our dream tiny home on wheels!

We left you last week on a bit of a cliff hanger! Are you excited to finally see Streamy looking fresh & revived? This might have been my favorite moment of the entire tiny home build, watching years of mismatched paint disappear under a fresh coat of creamy white!

It’s funny because the camera also enjoyed the transformation… up to this point we found that our camera was having a super hard time focusing on all the different color tones & shadows inside the airstream. But after it was all painted, we noticed that the video quality improved. We think it was because the camera was no longer struggling with exposure confusion now that it had a clean white canvas. But also mayyybe our camera skills improved too?!

Also, how cute was my little paint roller in that painting sequence? hahah Cracks me up every time. The little roller was necessary to seamlessly paint in & around the airstream’s curves!

Anyone who’s attempted/completed a tiny home build (any kind of home build) will tell you that the process takes wayyy longer and ends up being much more difficult then they anticipated.

We think this episode highlights this common antidote. Building wheel wells was a task that we thought would maybe take an hour or two tops? But 7 hours later we were still measuring, cutting, gluing & screwing.

If we hadn’t realized it already, we definitely realized then that this tiny home build was going to work us way harder & take much longer then we originally thought. Our 60 day deadline was going to be TIGHT & off camera we were working overtime ticking boxes on our tiny-home-build to-do-list.

It’s difficult to depict just how much goes into these DIY projects. On one hand we film & edit so that we can show you the entire process, but on the other we have to edit the footage in such a way that keeps you all engaged & watching! Catch 22 right?

In the end we hope that people will watch & feel empowered to take on a project of their own. To push past the fear & self doubt & do the thing (whatever it is) that they really want to do but have been feeling a little apprehensive about. Its challenging no doubt, but growth is in the discomfort!

What big project/scary thing are you wanting to take on? We would love to hear about it! Catch you in the comments!

Much love,
A&J

WHO WE ARE

We are a couple from opposite sides of the world making life together in a teeny-tiny 160 square feet.

Our current tiny home is a vintage Airstream trailer nestled in the woods here in the Canadian Pacific Northwest! We like to call her Streamy, our adventure basecamp!

Sounds dreamy right? Well let us tell you that it isn’t as easy as it looks & the process of building our dream tiny home on wheels (in just 60 days) was pretty challenging!!!

When we’re not enduring these self-imposed suffer-fests (i.e. our DIY projects & long grueling hikes up mountainsides) you’ll find us out on the ocean, living & sailing around the PNW on our little sailboat. She’s a Catalina 30 & we’ve been enjoying the challenge of restoring her & teaching ourselves how to sail!

OUR STORY

I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago.

A decade working in healthcare has helped us both to appreciate the preciousness of this one beautiful life we’ve been given.

Viewing TIME as our most valuable gift, we’ve been feeling an urgency in our lives to Live All Out!

We decided to make some BOLD moves, hit PAUSE on our conventional careers & work full time, turning our DREAMS into reality.

This is the beginning of our YouTube journey & over the next few weeks we will be sharing our first steps towards making full-time adventure possible.

We’ll be posting weekly videos that document our DIY projects, tiny-home living & our land & sea adventures.

It’s exciting to post our fourth episode & we hope you enjoy!
