Every boat is a compromise, no one boat is perfect. But IF you have the money, THIS is the absolute dream to live on, and sail around the world! Welcome to S/V Monoceros! A 2008 48′ Fountaine Pajot. After several years of living, sailing, and working on this gorgeous catamaran. It’s no great leap to say that would easily sell for $500,000! Though I don’t think they’re interested in selling anytime soon.
Now half a million dollars might seem like a lot. But when you consider what it can do. And the current housing market….. I think this boat is worth that hefty price tag….. Though I certainly won’t be affording one anytime soon!

How this happened:
I first met the owners John & Tina whiling exploring with my Highfield 310 dinghied into the well protected bay they were anchored in less than a week before filming this tour. They immediately embodied the cruiser style welcome that I’ve come to know and love about the sailing community. Welcoming me onboard, and showing me around their magnificent catamaran.
I made the incorrect assumption that they bought the boat like this. But as the days went by and I got to know them more and more. It’s crystal clear that their combined handwork and dedication is the reason this boat is the way it is now. John handles the major repairs & upgrades. While Tina works endlessly to keep the boat spotless(like eat of ANY floor spotless). They’re a dynamic duo complimenting each other very well as they slowly make their way circumnavigating and sailing around the world.
