Who needs a forestay anyways?! Well, maybe if you want to do some sailing… but before we do any more of that, it’s time to do a partial de-rigging and remove our forestay so the boatyard can get to work on fixing our bowsprit and anchor pulpit.
We’re don’t know too much about rigging, but we figure out how to loosen the backstay, and remove the forestay on our cutter rig sailboat, leaving the inner forestay to support the mast. With the headstay out of the way, the boatyard will be able to remove the remainder of our old anchor pulpit and bowsprit and start re-engineering a new, better-made stainless steel piece for us.
To help out footing the repair bill, Ty picks up some work and we head out, back into the rat race of the working world for a few weeks… First stop, San Diego. Here, at least we’re still near the harbor and get to check out the coast guard station and cruiser’s anchorage.
