Ep. 176 ~ Welcome back aboard Oka, our full-time liveaboard catamaran! In this episode of our Sailing Croatia series, we sail around the breathtaking islands northwest of Dubrovnik, including the stunning island of Kolocep (Kalamota). Here we explore the famous Three Green Caves and the magical Blue Cave, all on the same island as the legendary “Stairs To The Sea.” This corner of the Adriatic is truly an underwater paradise with crystal-clear water, mysterious caves, and epic cliff views.
After anchoring in the beautiful bay of Slano, we stern tie in Uvala Spilice and dive into turquoise waters to clean the bottom of the boat, giving you a glimpse of real-life “boat jobs” aboard Oka. In this video, we share how chores are divided on our catamaran — Donovan takes on the blue jobs and I handle the pink jobs. You’ll get a laugh as we break down the funny differences between his and mine, from engine work to galley duties.
We also stern tie at a hotel pontoon where we enjoy their restaurant, pool, and stunning coastal scenery. Whether you’re dreaming of sailing Croatia in retirement, curious about life on a catamaran, or planning your own Mediterranean sailing adventure, this vlog is full of inspiration, tips, and breathtaking views.
Plus, we dive into an important part of Mediterranean sailing: the different winds we’ve encountered on our journey. From the powerful Meltemi winds in Turkey and Greece, to the challenges of the Ionian Sea, and now the Bora winds of the Adriatic, we share our experience of navigating changing conditions across the Med.
