Did We Just Move to Türkiye?! 🇹🇷 | Full-Time Liveaboards on Land
Ep. 219 ~ What happens when two full-time liveaboards leave their sailboat behind in Greece and spend several months actually living in Istanbul, Türkiye? 🇹🇷
This winter, we traded our floating home for an apartment on Istanbul's Asian side, just half a block from the Sea of Marmara. Instead of rushing around checking famous sights off a bucket list, we settled into everyday life—local markets, neighborhood cafés, Turkish food, belly dancing, walks with Rosie and getting to know the people and places around us.
Of course, life had other plans. Just weeks after arriving, Donovan ended up in the hospital with a painful kidney stone, turning our new land-life adventure upside down.
We also explored Heybeliada, experienced Republic Day and Christmas in Istanbul, discovered the reality of living in a rapidly changing neighborhood and learned why sometimes the best way to experience a destination is simply to slow down and live there.
