Ep. 119 ~ In this episode, we tackle a common problem with Z Spars batten cars: ball bearings falling out during removal! 🛠️ We show you step-by-step how we removed the batten cars from our mast and successfully reinstalled them without losing any ball bearings. We faced a major challenge removing the cars from the mast track, as the ball bearings kept falling out. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a boating newbie, our detailed guide will help you fix your batten cars with ease. Save time, frustration, and keep your rigging in top shape! If you're encountering the same issue, we hope our method can help you too!
Z-Spar Part #3482 (Intermediate Car for 25mm Track)
The Fountaine Pajot Isla 40 (the current 40-foot model, successor to the Lucia 40) and Helia 44 (or Helia 44 Evolution) use the same 25mm mast track size and thus the same 6.4mm ball bearing size for Z-Spar intermediate batten cars like #3482. Both models feature Z-Spar aluminum masts with standard RCB (recirculating ball) tracks optimized for full-batten mainsails.
We live on a Fountaine Pajot Helia catamaran and strive to do all our own maintenance and repairs. Through trial and error, and learning from other YouTube videos, we've gained valuable knowledge we want to share with you.
🔧 In this video, you'll learn:
