Catamaran Life in Greece: DIY Lithium Battery & Solar Panel Upgrade!
Ep. 161 ~ In this episode of our catamaran life in Greece, we dive into a major DIY lithium battery upgrade as part of improving our off-grid power system aboard our liveaboard sailboat. We’re living full-time on our catamaran in a winter marina in Preveza, enjoying the quieter months of Mediterranean boat life, while prepping for a big sailing season ahead.
We install our new lithium batteries under the bed, run cables all the way to our Victron system in the starboard engine bay and then feed the wires through the cockpit roof support poles to our solar panels. We're also pre-planning where we’ll mount 3 additional solar panels on the cockpit roof to complement the upcoming solar arch upgrade. These upgrades will allow us more independence and flexibility while cruising remote anchorages across the Mediterranean Sea.
Plus, it’s Carnival season in Greece! Also, the Preveza Fire Department performs some training in our marina. Join us as we explore the festive atmosphere in Preveza with concerts, events, and the vibrant local culture kicking off the 3-week celebration.
