Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It seems many of the places to anchor in the Northern islands of Cape Verde are said to be rough. With real experience, I can say it all depends on the wind and waves. And if you brave the conditions, you will discover anchorages that let you discover real Cape Verde. Like in Tarafal where we take a crew of local kids to a nearby beach they’d never been to. And up the coast where we anchor with Tito the pirate and discover the great town of Porto Novo. No yachties dares anchor there because a sailboat has sunk in the harbor. But we do and we discover amazing music and a great vibe. We dare to go where many don’t.
