Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It’s their Winded Voyage. A real living adventure series.

Yes it does snow in the Canaries! And this year was exceptional as the snow fall was in lower altitudes and abundant. My friend Saray came to visit for a few days and we went on some excursions. We visited Cueva del Viento, one of the world’s longest lava tunnels. And up to snow capped El Tiede. As a native of Lanzarote, she had never touched snow before, we found some in shady areas around the mountain and her expression tell all. The weather was cold and constantly changing, so it was not the best time to sail, but a great day to visit Casa del Carnaval. A warm up to the upcoming Carnaval de Santa Cruz.
