Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. We did what few recreational sailors do or even attempt to. We circumnavigated the island of Santa Antao. It was an epic six day journey beginning in the town of Tarrafal de Montrigo and ending back there several days later. It gave us time to make a short visit and take a sweet shower under a tumbling stream. And our friend Sidney finally caught fish for an afternoon delight.
