On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. Can you trust your crew to helm your boat and take control? It depends on who. Some people take to the sea naturally, and it seems the case with our friend Marizia. We sail out for a couple of days to get out of the city and anchor. We’re accompanied by Peter, Lily and Fannie. We cruise the West and South coasts of Sao Vicente island in search of good spots to drop the hook. But there is a strong swell coming from the South. So we end up doing a lot of motoring and this is when I hand over the helm to Marizia. She knows how to helm my boat. It’s part of having confidence in your crew.
