Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It’s their Winded Voyage. A real living adventure series.

Sometimes sister luck parks itself right next to your boat and opportunity knocks. We are in Tarrafal on Santiago Island and Dutch schooner Oosterschelde weigh anchor besides us. I’d met the Captain in a few days ago in Mindelo, and as he passed by with his dinghy waved him over. He stopped and was surprised to see me. He thought I was a bar sailor. I asked him if we could visit his boat, and thats what we did . We later visited Sub Saharan Africa’s oldest town, Side Velha with Carlos and friends. We take stroll down Run Banana, the oldest European street in tropical Africa. It’s a historic episode by going aboard & beyond.
