Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. Me and my boat Galopin have been wanting to sail with our friend Bruno for some time. And we got the perfect opportunity. A weekend jaunt across the Sao Vicente canal and on to the island of Santa Antao. I’ve done this passage on many occasions, but never with a professional skipper. And this proved to be an exceptional experience. He was familiar my boat without knowing anything about it. He easily convinced me to hoist the Spinnaker, which I rarely do in Cape Verde, which turned out to be “sailgasm”. And I got to show him how we navigate these waters which I’m more familiar with and he is less. It was a wonderful experience sailing Galopin with a pro skipper. A calm, gentle experienced skipper that is also a great friend.
