Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. As we make our passage from one island to another we drink, and my crew mate Marizia dances and lies around the cockpit in her bikini. She’s beautiful, young and full of energy. And me, I manage the sailing of the boat. A passage of about 140 nautical miles from Boa Vista to Sao Vicente islands. It’s a wonderful sail by day, and a long one by night where we have to adjust our course and face the wind. But on the second day the sailing is glorious and the company wonderful.
