Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. Sailing around Cape Verde islands has gotten even more tricky. Due to Covid, we must get a test before leaving and entering other islands. We must get official authorizations to anchor at locations other than the main harbors of Mindelo or Praia. And then I have a problem. My propeller does not have enough thrust to power Galopin to our last anchorage. Thanks goodness Peter is close by to tow me the few miles to anchor safely. It’s part of the Covid pains & high seas rescue. Sailing Galopin in Cabo Verde Africa.
