Peter and I sail to Santiago island accompanied by Lily on his boat and Wendy on mine. We’re buddy sailing in Cape Verde Africa, two yachts sailing together 140NM. After a short delay we are off down the Sao Vicente canal and it’s glorious. We catch up and sail together the beginning of our 160nm passage. Poor Wendy is very seasick, but gets a momentary cure as we are surrounded by speedy dolphins. It’s one of those wonderful Cape Verde cruising moments. When hauling out your boat here, you set it on a cart in the water and tie it to the cart. A big old winch and cable then pull the cart and boat onto the beach while you are aboard. Not recommended for tight asses.
