He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. The forecast was pretty accurate. A tropical storm was on our way and I would be sailing right into it. I was beating into a tropical storm. We had left our last anchorage in Tarrafal a bit too late and found ourselves crossing the Sao Vicente canal as the storm was coming. I was a storm that hasn’t been seen here in Mindelo in about 10 years. Streets are completely flooded and people are dancing in the rain! Eventually it passes and I managed to collect over 500lt of rain water. I also found a temporary solution to my autopilot problem. Because soon we will be heading out on a big sailing adventure.
