We Visited a ZOO Built Around VOLCANO RUINS! Martinique E402

A ZOO built among the ruins of a devastating volcanic eruption?! Welcome to one of the most unique family adventures we’ve experienced while sailing the Caribbean!

This week, we explore Zoo de Martinique – Habitation Latouche, near Saint-Pierre, a beautiful tropical zoo and botanical garden built around the historic ruins of a former plantation destroyed during the 1902 eruption of Mount Pelée.

Walking along lush pathways surrounded by tropical plants, towering trees, and exotic flowers, we discover an incredible variety of animals while learning their names and fascinating details about the plants around us.

What makes this zoo so special is how nature, wildlife, and history come together. As we wander through the gardens, we discover old stone walls, historic structures, and remnants of a past forever changed by the volcano.

The kids absolutely LOVE this adventure, and we have just as much fun exploring! It’s the perfect family outing, combining wildlife, history, education, and the beauty of Martinique.

After an unforgettable day, it’s time to raise anchor and sail along Martinique’s spectacular coastline toward Fort-de-France, the island’s colorful capital, where our next adventure awaits!

Join us as we continue exploring the Caribbean aboard our sailboat with our two little sailors, discovering amazing places one island at a time.
