Our sailing adventures take a brief pause as we take an adventure inland and travel on the El Chepe Express, Mexico’s Train Trip through the Copper Canyon.

With our friends, Trish and Jay, we had planned a week long trip to the Copper Canyon or Barrancas del Cobre. The Copper Canyon or Barrancas del Cobre in Spanish, is lesser known compared to the Grand Canyon in the United States but rivals in size.

The canyon system has been deemed the largest in the world and twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. Linking Chihuahua City to Los Mochis , El Chepe Train covers 653km/405 miles of track through the majestic landscape of Mexico’s Western coast.

Along the nearly 700 km of railway, there are about 15 stops, mostly consisting of small villages of Mexico’s oldest native communities.

However, the El Chepe Train is not an easy trip logistically speaking and far from any main touristy destinations making it very attractive to those who desire the road less traveled and like an off the beaten path experience.

Thanks for watching and DON’T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE!!!!
