After our (lack-of) shake-out cruise, we took a few days to indulge the beauty of Barkley Sound and the town of Bamfield while staying at the stunning Pacific Gateway Wilderness Lodge (Bamfield, BC, Canada). If you like any of the below things in life, then you MUST take a good long weekend (if not longer) and enjoy this BC wildnerness gem.
Fishing – salmon, halibut, cod
Eating – delicious and authentic meals with other guests in the lodge; a fun way to make friends
Exploring – boardwalk fun, small town vibes, stunning beaches, local art everywhere, lava rocks, the Pacific Ocean, trails, hiking through ancient forests, talking to the friendly locals, shopping at Brady’s Gallery
Enjoying – beautiful 180 views of the Barkley Sound from the hot tub, your room, while eating dinner, basically… ALL THE TIME! This place is pretty remote and a little bit of a commitment to get to, but this is about as close as you can get to nature in luxurious comfort.
Treat yourself – to the private waterfront cabin for extra special views and the guided fishing tours – you probably won’t go home empty handed if the time is right!
