Stinking Seawater & Broken - Leopard Catamaran Front Door FAIL!
This is the start of the final Leopard Catamaran and Robertson & Caine new boat buying review series, restrictions are off, it's time to start off with the famous forward cockpit door.
When considering catamaran designs, having a front door to a forward cockpit is just one of those things people tend to love or hate. Boat builders and yacht brokers have put resources into convincing people that they're an innovative idea and completely safe, and when constructed properly they probably are, but what happens when the frame gets completely screwed up?
A saga that carried on from just after handover until Trinidad, we never imagined just how bad our Leopard 45's forward cockpit hatch would be - dry fiberglass, putrid seawater, moldy broken plywood and a frame that was simply the wrong shape.
On a production level the Leopard 45 has been retired, the same factory that built this boat is now producing the new Leopard 46 electric drive.
