In the second part of our three part series we discuss the implications of which broker or entity you choose to buy a new yacht or catamaran from. We encourage future yacht buyers to ask the right questions, like who will pay for my warranty repairs if they exceed X amount?
Where will the money be coming from?
How much capital does the yacht broker need to have to support issues that may arise with the purchase?
If you need to litigate to get paid for warranty rectification by the chosen broker, should you be successful will they likely pay out or close, declare bankruptcy and reopen?
What is the warranty history in non captive owners groups and are issues being addressed? If it isn't apparent make the builder provide a guarantee via email that X issues have been addressed by your hull number.
Remember that some owners groups are run or moderated by brokers far more concerned with maintaining asset values than truth.
