Boat Life Origin Story - We Bought a Fishing Boat in El Nido and Explored Paradise!
Here's the story of the time we bought a Filipino fishing boat while staying on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Yes, it was just as incredible and crazy as it sounds! This adventure was a turning point that set us firmly on the course for boat life, and was the inspiration for us to choose a catamaran as our sailing home. One day we plan to sail back to El Nido, and bring our journey full circle.
BACK STORY
A few years ago, myself, Trent and our original crew mate Tynan took off on a backpacking trip across Asia and Europe. Our second stop was the Philippines. After exploring the island of Cebu we flew across to Puerto Princessa on Palawan Island and travelled up to El Nido along Bacuit Bay. By the end of our 2nd day, we owned a traditional Filipino banka boat.
This is Part One of one of the most incredible experiences we've ever had, which had a profound impact on the course of our lives. The video covers buying the boat, our early expeditions to iconic locations like Entula Island, Big Lagoon and Shimizu Island, climbing the peak behind El Nido Proper and venturing to Malabina Island.
