After years of dreaming, we left our family, friends and lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, behind as we set off to chase our shared dream of sailing the world. Last year, we bought our Excess 11 catamaran, Rúna, which we now call home as we live, work, sail and adventure across the Mediterranean.
This week, with our engines finally fixed, we’re back on the water and continuing our sailing adventure around Sicily! ⛵️🇮🇹
This week, we leave the marina behind and sail along Sicily’s spectacular coastline, discovering crystal-clear water, beautiful anchorages and some of the most incredible scenery we’ve experienced in the Mediterranean.
From the stunning beaches and lively streets of San Vito Lo Capo to Sicily’s rugged northern coast, we’re reminded exactly why we chose the liveaboard sailing life.
But the biggest surprise comes in Termini Imerese...
While heading back to Rúna, we spot a yacht sitting on the harbour wall that we instantly recognise.
The 56-metre superyacht Bayesian, which sank off the coast of Sicily near Porticello during a violent storm in August 2024, tragically claiming seven lives.
After being raised from almost 50 metres below the Mediterranean Sea, Bayesian was brought to Termini Imerese, where the investigation into the sinking continues.
Seeing the Bayesian yacht up close was a sobering reminder of just how powerful and unpredictable the sea can be.
