Episode 49
Today we say goodbye to Highbourne and Allen’s Cays and motor about 12 miles south to Shroud Cay, where we drop the anchor and waste absolutely no time going exploring.
Our first mission is taking Firefly through the mangrove river to the famous Washing Machine. There’s just one problem: low tide. We get the dinghy stuck a couple of times along the way, but eventually make it through, and WOW, was it worth it. Beautiful clear water, rushing currents, and a very cool experience that shows us exactly how this place got its reputation.
The trip back is on a rising tide and goes much more smoothly. No getting stuck!
Then we discover a tiny, perfect-for-two beach right off Serenity’s bow. We have it to ourselves until the rising water runs us off, so we find another nearby beach and settle in to enjoy the sunset.
We really hope you like this one! Thank you so much for letting us share our story with you.
CHEERS!
-Chris & Lisa
