After much hesitaion and apprehension I now go for vertiacal battens, two in each sail.
This allows me to reduce the height of the mast to 2.2 meter freestanding.
The sail area is 3.24 square meter.
Small things attract small forces. The battens therfore will not need to be very strong.
There will be a small vertical spare in the aft end of the boat to take the sheet of tha aft mast.
The J-spar is is attached to a point on a gallows just in front of the masts as a kind of gooseneck..
Normally the gooseneck is on the mast just below the luff. That is better but here that way is not possible as the masts rotates. The result will not be to different I hope.
