60 years ago I left Sweden as Captain of my own ship for the first time. Much have changed since then in some ways to very much better in some ways to the very much worse
The boat was wooden now it is sandwich composite. This is a very good change.
The sails was cotton now it is polyester fiber. This is a very good change.
The light was kerosine now it is led lamps with electricity from solar panels. This is a very good change.
Navigation was with paper charts and compas. Now it is with Iphone. This is a very good change.
Then no one asked for money when you come to a port. Now there is no free mooring you have to pay everywhere. This is a very bad change.
Before the sailing people were young and did build their own boats that was small on small money. Now sailing people are old pensioners with huge complicated boats. This is a very bad change.
