Racing boats are prestigius thats why builders of production boats copy them.
But racing boats are limited by rules and regulation especially concerning speed.
In other words the speed of a racing boat is limeted by racing rules.
Cruising boats are not racing therefore it is not rational to limit their speed by racing rules but this is whats happening.
I do not think thats a good idea. I do not limit the speed of my cruisers by racing rules. Therefore I make them slender.
If you want a sane boat do the same.
A bonus the become more seaworthy like whalebaots.
