I did only roughen up the PVC close to the wood/ PVC joint. That was a mistake. The epoxy did not adhere well to the part of the PVC not sandpapered. The glassfibre liked to peel of.
I may have saved it by wrapping the hole thing in glassfibre.
Tomorrow we have the ansver.
