Tohatsu Outboard Rebuild (Part 2) | Fixing a 3.5hp Dinghy Engine in Malta

Welcome back to Tohatsu Troubles Part 2!
In this episode, we rebuild our stubborn Tohatsu 3.5hp outboard motor here in Malta. Sourcing spare parts has been a real challenge, but with Cindy’s help we reassemble the engine head, mount it back onto the leg, and test it on the dinghy to see if we can finally get it running again.

👉 If you own a Tohatsu 2.5, 3.5, or 5hp, you’ll know all about the common gear lever issues. In this video we also dive deep into the carburettor rebuild, including:

Checking the main and idle jets

Inspecting the float valve and bowl assembly

Step-by-step troubleshooting tips for small outboard motors

This is a longer, detailed video for anyone interested in DIY outboard repair, dinghy engine maintenance, or Tohatsu rebuilds.

⛵ Whether you’re restoring your own engine or just love watching the process, grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride. And remember — always use your kill cord and stay safe on the water!
